Our mission is to build a global community that raises awareness about inequities in sports and highlights the importance of lifting for girls and women.

The event was inspired by the NCAA’s failure to provide women with adequate resistance training equipment during the 2021 March Madness tournament, while the men had access to a full weight room. This disparity isn’t limited to basketball; it reflects a broader issue across all sports, health, and fitness. LOADWOMEN aims to spotlight these inequities and actively contribute to positive change. Participants — both women and men — take part by attempting heavy deadlifts and securing pledges or flat-rate donations based on their lifts. The event fosters a stronger sense of community within strength sports while raising funds to support women in sports.

From 2021 to 2023, we raised over $60,000 for the Perry Initiative and the Women’s Sports Foundation. The Perry Initiative supports women in science, particularly sports science, addressing the unique challenges women face in athletics. The Women’s Sports Foundation focuses on keeping young women engaged in sports at critical points when they are most likely to drop out. This year, 100% of our proceeds will go to the Women’s Sports Foundation, and we are incredibly grateful for their additional support in helping this initiative grow.
